Katherine Heigl Is Replacing Meghan Markle on "Suits"

Not as the same character, obvs.

Meghan Markle recently stepped away from the hit USA Network series Suits, to attend to the business of becoming, you know, a princess.

Yesterday, it was also revealed that Patrick J. Adams—who plays Mike Ross, the on-screen boyfriend to Markle’s Rachel Zane—would also be stepping away from the show.

However, the show must literally go on. And though Markle and Adams will both get a proper send-off in the show’s seventh season, which begins airing in America this March, there’s the question of who will take their space in the already-confirmed eighth season.

Well, mark it: Katherine Heigl will use the vacated spot left by Princess Meghan* to stage her latest comeback.

According to Variety, Heigl will appear in Season Eight as Samantha Wheeler, “a talented new partner at Pearson Specter Litt who challenges the status quo and will either become the firm’s greatest ally or most powerful enemy,” which pretty much describes Heigl’s actual role behind-the-scenes of Grey’s Anatomy.

Meanwhile, Dulé Hill of Psych will be promoted to a series regular, alongside Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty and Rick Hoffman.

Suits’ Season Seven finale—and the last episode to feature Markle and Adams—will air in the states this April. You can probably bet a wedding dress will be involved. And, sure, a nice suit too.

(*Technically, she's going to be called "Her Royal Highness Princess Harry of Wales". No one ever accused the Monarchy of being progressive.)
