Attention: Academy Awards. Jordan Peele’s coming back and this time he’s taking everything you got.

Get Out was undeniably one of 2017’s biggest success stories.

On a budget of just $US4.5 million, the horror-satire grossed more than $US255 million worldwide and become a cultural touchstone, dissecting race relations in America brilliantly. It scored 99 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and became an Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay. Writer-director-producer Jordan Peele also broke ground by becoming the first black winner of the Best Original Screenplay Oscar, the fourth African-American helmer to ever be nominated for Direction, and only the third person in history to get nominations for Directing, Original Screenplay and Best Picture on their directorial debut. Most prestigiously, it was named Film of the Year by Student Edge (ever heard of it?).

Now, Peele is plotting his follow-up, and no, it’s not the Kanye-inspired Get Out 2 he joked about recently. He’s instead released the title, poster and release date for his hotly-anticipated next film on Twitter.

Here’s what you need to know.

The title: Us

The release date: 15 March 2019 (in America, at least; we’ll have to wait and see if Australia gets it that same week).

The tagline: "A new nightmare from the mind of Academy Award winner Jordan Peele."

The cast: Sources tell Variety Lupita Nyong’o (an Oscar winner for 12 Years a Slave) is in talks to star, while her Black Panther mate, Winston Duke (aka M’Baku), is also being eyed for another lead role. Emmy and Golden Globe winner Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) is also apparently a "top choice" for another major part.

The plot: Okay, this is where we enter the realm of pure speculation, as Peele and Universal Studios are keeping details close to their chest. But, back in February, Peele told the Hollywood Reporter he was "just trying to entertain myself again" with the new script. He also said, "tonally it should resemble Get Out," but how, ultimately, he wants to "make a completely different movie." Finally, he added: "I want to address something different than race in the next one."

Anyway, we’ve already carved out a spot in our Top 10 Films of 2019, so no pressure, Jordan.
