Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Face Queensland Court For Smuggling Pistol And Boo

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have finally faced the music regarding the alleged smuggling of their dogs Boo and Pistol into Queensland.

Attending court on the Gold Coast (which is not exactly a Top 10 Gold Coast attraction), Heard pleaded guilty to falsifying quarantine documents, ABC News reports.

Her lawyer argued that Heard believed Depp’s staff had already handled Pistol and Boo’s paperwork when their private jet arrived in Australia last April.

Citing sleep deprivation and exhaustion, her lawyer said, “it was a terrible, terrible mistake,” but that there had been “no attempt to deceive.”

A video apology featuring both Heard and Depp was also played to the courtroom.

In it, Heard conceded that “protecting Australia is important.”

Depp chimed in by adding, “When you disrespect Australian law, they will tell you.” (Specifically, Barnaby Joyce.)

The other side was having none of it, with prosecutor Peter Callaghan saying, “The laws apply to everyone.”

Still, two biosecurity charges (with a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail) were dropped against Heard this morning. On the count of producing a false document, Heard was sentenced to a good behaviour bond, with no conviction recorded.

In a strange aside to an already strange story, Depp reportedly kept falling asleep throughout proceedings, with Heard having to nudge him awake.

Rest now, Johnny. Your terrier-related nightmare is ended.
