Jarryd Hayne Snubs Parramatta For Gold Coast In NRL Return

Jarryd Hayne is returning to the NRL, following a short spurt with the NFL and a failed Olympics bid.

On Triple M radio this morning, Gold Coast Titans’ club ambassador Gorden Tallis confirmed that Hayne had signed with their team for the current season.

At a subsequent press conference, their marriage was made official, with Hayne securing $1.2 million per season for his return to the code. It’s the biggest deal in NRL history.

According to News.com.au, Hayne had been offered a three-year deal with his old team, the Parramatta Eels, worth $2.5 million.

However, on Twitter (via the Notes app – just like Taylor Swift!), Hayne indicated that the Eels had made no formal offer, and he blamed “instability with the Board” for his decision to snub his old teammates.

Unconventionally, Hayne’s deal is such that he could theoretically play for the Titans as early as this Sunday, for their round 22 match-up against the New Zealand Warriors. Given the fact the Titans are sitting at seventh on the ladder, Hayne could prove instrumental in their impending finals campaign.

That is, if he stays with the Titans long enough. He has a habit of changing his mind…
