It’s World Pasta Day So We Asked Our Followers About Their Fave Pasta Dish

Penne for your thoughts? 🤌
Happy World Pasta Day!
It’s a staple, a favourite and a comfort food. *sighs* it’s pasta. Sometimes there is just nothing better than a ‘uge bowl of pasta at the end of a long day. Girl dinner move over.
And it seems the Student Edge followers feel the same way. Ahead of World Pasta Day we asked our IG followers what their favourite pasta dish is - keep reading to find out which dishes came out on top.
Spaghetti Bolognese.

She’s the main character, the go-to, the all-dependable pasta dish. And you thought so too! 36 per cent of the followers we surveyed voted spag bol as their fave pasta dish.
It’s also one of the easiest pasta dishes to make. But if you need some tips, head chef Johnny Di Francesco of Italian restaurant group 400 Gradi warned us not to overcook our pasta.
“As Italians, we prefer our pasta ‘al dente’, which means it should be cooked to be tender, but still have a slight firmness,” he said.
“The instructions on the package for how many minutes you need to cook the pasta is often not for al dente, so try not to rely on this and keep tasting the pasta until its cooked al dente.”
Fettuccini Carbonara.
They’re your sophisticated older sibling, with unpretentious, timeless charm. It’s fettuccini carbonara. Real fans of Italian food will know that traditional carbonara is made from egg yolk, not cream. And its simplicity is what makes it a fan favourite. 28 per cent of our followers voted it as their pasta of choice.
Spaghetti Marinara.
You guys were not the biggest fans of spaghetti marinara with only 11 per cent voting it as their fave. But they’re vibrant and lively, and maybe a little bit extra.
When making something like a spaghetti marinara, Johnny’s biggest tips is to choose your ingredients wisely.
“One thing I will never skimp on is fresh, high-quality ingredients,” Johnny said.
“Italians are known for their simple but flavoursome dishes with much of it coming down to the quality of the ingredients used.”
Pesto Penne.
She’s a staple, reliable and you know what you’re getting yourself into. But also a bit zesty. She’s a pesto penne. There were a fair few fans amongst our members as 25 per cent of you said it was your favourite.
Johnny recommended to make your pasta salty.

“You may hear Italians say that the pasta water should be as salty as the sea,” he said.
“The general rule is one tablespoon of salt to every one pound of pasta. This will help bring out the flavour in the pasta from the inside.”
Special write-in: Lasagne.
Admittedly, there was some office debate around the topic of lasagne. Is it a pasta dish or isn’t it? Someone at Student Edge (no names named) said “it’s a pasta dish for children” while some others fought valiantly for its inclusion in the survey.
And while we didn’t end up including it in our poll, a few of you did write in naming lasagne as your favourite.

We hope you’re celebrating World Pasta Day in the best way possible: with a giant bowl of pasta.
