The Inventor Of The Cup Noodle Would Have Turned 105 Today

Momofuku Ando, inventor of the instant cup noodle and patron saint of students around the globe, would have celebrated his 105th birthday today.
Hence, this Google tribute.
By our math, you could make 27,612,322 serves of his chicken ramen in a life that long.
Ando, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 96, sold his first package of Nissin instant noodles in the wake of World War 2, taking advantage of Japanese food shortages of the time.
A visit to America in 1971 introduced him to the concept of selling food in polystyrene cups, keeping the product hot for longer. The world celebrated, knowing it had been bettered for all time.
Besides a terrifying cat island, Japan is also home to not one but two museums dedicated to Ando and his invention.
Though we honour his birth on March 5, anyone who appreciates a quick, cheap and tasty meal recognises 'Momofuku Ando Day' 365 times a year.
