A Mum’s Instagram Account Was Disabled After Her Cake Pic Was Mistaken For 12 Nipples

Instagram seriously doesn’t like nipples.

British woman Sue Mosley found out the hard way after posting a pic of her Easter simnel cake to the ‘Gram.

Unfortunately, the photo sharing service mistook the marzipan balls adorning the icing for12 nipples, and the cake itself as a giant boob.

As a result, they disabled her account for “violating” their terms.

Her daughter, Fiona, instead shared the snaps on the much more open-minded Twitter.

According to Mashable, the account was reactivated after Mosley appealed their decision.

In a statement, Instagram apologised: “We made a mistake here and restored the account as soon as we learned about it. Our apologies go out to Sue Moseley for the trouble we caused her.”

#CakeGate follows the controversy surrounding Instagram’s double-standard when it comes to shirtless pictures. Women have seen their accounts disabled for posting topless pics (or, in Willow Smith's case, for wearing a shirt that has nipples on it), while men have been allowed to go top-nude on the service.

The controversy kicked off the #FreeTheNipple campaign, which was embraced by Miley Cyrus and Rihanna among others.

We only hope #FreeTheCake gains as much traction.
