'Instagram Live' Is Coming, So Get Ready To Meet The New 'Chewbacca Mum'

Instagram, fighting back against plucky upstart Snapchat and its own parent company Facebook, is gearing up to debut live video streaming.
We look forward to meeting – and growing sick of – the random user who turns out to be the ‘Chewbacca Mum’ of Instagram Live.
CEO Kevin Systrom told the Financial Times of the development, saying, “I think it can enhance what we’re doing,” Variety reports.
It’s not known exactly how Instagram plans to integrate live video or even when the feature will be unveiled.
However, there are reports that the ‘Gram has already begun testing it with some of its users.
The live streams apparently appear at the top of users’ feeds, much like their new ‘Stories’ feature (launched, to great, Snapchat-envy-inspiring success in August).
Live video streaming has been a massive boon to Facebook. Since May, the number of people broadcasting at any minute has grown by approximately 400 per cent, Media Post reports.
The company is even spending $50 million to encourage celebrities and companies, like BuzzFeed and the New York Times, to use it.
So, the Instafamous can expect their checks in the mail, we guess?
