IKEA Is Dropping New Gaming Furniture So You Can Play in Style

The product line is set to be available globally in October 2021.

After years in development, Swedish furniture giant IKEA has rolled out a new gaming line in their China stores.

The new range called ‘Gaming Home’ is a collaborative line in partnership with Republic of Gamers—a computer hardware brand owned by Asus—and has everything you need for a dope gaming space and some fun stuff to keep you entertained.

Included in the launch is six new product families: Utespelare, Matchspel, Låespelare, Huvudspelare, Gruppspel and Uppspel, with more than 30 products including desks, chairs, and accessories like headsets and ring lights.

There are also some kind of weird inclusions, like a big wooden hand (presumably to hold your fancy headphones), a fun cup holder, and a special hand-warming pillow? Look, I dunno.

In a statement made by IKEA, they explained that the gaming community are a growing, yet often forgotten group of customers, and with the rise of living, working and playing indoors, it was a demographic they couldn’t pass up.

"There are 2.5 billion gamers around the world, a diverse group united by their love of e-sports and gaming—and by being an overlooked group from a life-at-home perspective," IKEA said in a statement.

"But that is about to change: the new gaming range developed by IKEA in collaboration with Republic of Gamers (ROG) was launched at IKEA China on January 29, 2021."

It seems that IKEA are really starting to dip their toes into the gaming world, especially after a few months ago when customers noticed PS5 and Xbox Series X display consoles that could be used to measure up their potential cabinets to fit their new console.

Unfortunately, the mock consoles aren’t yet available in Australia and we’re not sure if they’ll be headed this way. So for now, you’re stuck with your trusty tape measure.

Mostly targeting PC gamers (soz PS5 lovers), the new range has been developed to be relevant, functional and affordable to meet various customers' needs in terms of function, design and price.

At the moment, the range is only available in China, but you can have a cheeky sneak peak at the products on the IKEA China website.

The line is set to be available in Japan from May 2021 and the rest of the world from October 2021. So, us Aussies will have to wait a bit (I’m not crying, you’re crying).
