OML: Nintendo Have Just Released Their New OLED Model Nintendo Switch

You can pick one up from today.
If you’ve been putting off buying a Nintendo Switch ‘cos you’re waiting for the next model up, wait no more ‘cos Nintendo has just announced the release of their new 7-inch OLED screen Switch.
This new member of the Nintendo Switch console family comes with a bigger screen, vivid colours, and high contrast, so not only is your play exciting, but now it’s also a much more immersive experience.
That’s not it though, the new model also features a wide adjustable stand for tabletop mode, a new dock with a wired LAN port (LAN cable sold separately), 64GB of internal storage, and enhanced audio for handheld and tabletop play.
Of course, it still comes with all the awesome versatility features of the OG Switch, including the ability to play on TV and for players to share the detachable Joy-Con controllers. It also comes in two colours, white and neon blue/neon red.
Nintendo has said that the new OLED screen has been incorporated to cater for the vast and growing library of Nintendo Switch games, which will likely have top-quality specs.
What’s an OLED screen?
So, what exactly are the benefits of the new screen?
Well aside from it being a few inches larger, the image display has completely changed to an OLED screen to make gameplay a more vivid experience.
Basically, an OLED screen doesn’t have a backlight like LCD screens, instead, it displays images using light emitted by each individual pixel.
This means that deep blacks can be represented by turning a pixel’s light off, allowing for a crisper, higher contrast.
I’m not turning my nose up at that.

Where can I pick one up?
Right now, you can pick up either colour console from the Nintendo store and all gaming and department stores in Australia that stock Nintendo products including Target, Amazon, EB Games, JB Hi-Fi, and Big W.
They don’t come cheap though. If you live in Australia and want to pick one up today it’ll set you back $539, so start saving those dollars.
Idk about you, but I can’t wait to play Mario Kart with the vivid colours and high contrast.
