Get Ready: “Diablo 2: Resurrected” Is Coming to All Consoles

Plus, a "Diablo 4" Trailer has been released.

It seems to be the season of game announcements. With Nintendo Direct last week and BlizzCon over the weekend, gamers are in for some real treats over the next two years.

A notable reveal at BlizzCon was the announcements made for the Diablo franchise.

Firstly, since about January, there have been rumours floating around about a remastered version of Diablo 2 and access for more consoles. Well, the good news was officially confirmed by Activision on the weekend.

The game won’t just be getting a spruce up, it will also become available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Diablo 2: Resurrected includes full 3D rendering as well as dynamic lighting, new animations, spell effects, Dolby 7.1 surround sound, and the option to switch between 4K or 144Hz graphics.

The re-release also includes all the content from the Lord of Destruction DLC but will stay true to the original gameplay that fans know and love.

Vicarious Visions—the developers of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy—will be working on the remaster.

It has been 20 years since the game’s original release, so nostalgic fans are sure to jump on this one.

Unfortunately, while the upgrade will allow the game to become playable on all consoles, there is no inclusion of cross-play, but it will have full cross-progression.

There is no official release date just yet, but you can sign up to participate in the alpha testing of the PC version here.

Aaaand, the Diablo news just doesn’t stop ‘cos BlizzCon also revealed the trailer to the franchises newest game Diablo 4.

While the trailer doesn’t give much away, it is clear that they’re bringing back the rogue class from the original game.

It has been a tiring nine years since Diablo 3 was released, so fans are just itching to get their hands on the newest installment.

The new game is set to be an open-world role-playing game with a non-linear campaign. Fans should also expect to see the return of Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto to the cast of characters.

As usual, there is no release date to share just yet, but it is likely that the game won’t become available until at least 2022, so it’s time to do some more waiting (soz).

If you missed BlizzCon and want to catch up on the nearly four-hour event, you can watch it here.
