How to Watch "Happy Endings" in Australia

Draaaama! Your new/old fave is coming to SBS on Demand.

These days, we’ll take our good news wherever we can get it, and there’s no better news than hearing that Happy Endings, one of the great American sitcoms of the past decade, is finally coming to an Australian streaming service.

Better yet, it's one of the free ones.

From Saturday 2 May 2020, all three seasons of the show will be available to stream via SBS on Demand. Episodes will also air weekly on SBS Viceland at 5pm on Saturdays.

Happy Endings originally aired sporadically on Channel 7 in Australia between 2011 and 2013, and in the years since has only been available for Aussies who are willing to shell out nearly $30 a season on iTunes or in the Microsoft Store.

But our long national nightmare ends in May! SBS on Demand is free to download and access. You just need to sit through some ads.

If you’re not familiar with Happy Endings, firstly, how dare you? Secondly, I guess we can’t blame you. It comes from showrunner David Caspe (who's now responsible for the very good Black Monday on Stan) and focuses on a sextet of friends who stick together even after one of the gang leaves the other at the altar. That premise eventually falls away as the six pals—Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.), Jane (Eliza Coupe), Alex (Elisha Cuthbert), Dave (Zachary Knighton), Max (Adam Pally) and Penny (Casey Wilson)—simply go on goofy adventures in their home city of Chicago. Think of Friends but twice the speed, wackier, and with way, way dirtier jokes and too much wordplay.
