How to Watch "Hamilton" in Australia

Get ready to sing your heart out.

There's nothing better than being able to belt out a Broadway tune, and it looks like we'll all have the opportunity to do so in the coming months. 

Earlier this year, it was announced that a film version of Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical Hamilton was coming. However, it was originally slated for release on 15 October 2021. 

But with COVID-19 forcing us to stay indoors more than usual, it appears Disney wants to make sure we're sufficiently entertained. Now, Hamilton will land on Disney+ on 3 July this year. 

Of course, that also means you can sing those show tunes from the comfort of your own home (where you don't have to worry about anyone hearing you). 

The musical is set to come to Australia in March 2021. In saying that, it's difficult to know whether it'll go ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If it does go ahead, tickets to Hamilton have proved notoriously hard to get. So, instead of having to fork out a lot of cash to see it live, you can now get the same experience sitting on your couch. Plus, the Disney+ version features the original cast. 

The movie version of the musical was filmed at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre with the original cast. In 2016, it won 11 Tony Awards as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. 

That's one big trophy case. 

For those who haven't seen it, the show follows the life story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Miranda, who also stars as Hamilton, tells the tale through rap music and lyrics.

If you need further convincing, just check out the original cast performing at the 2016 Tony Awards. The performance was even introduced by Barack and Michelle Obama, and American rapper Common. 

Director Tommy Kail helmed both the stage version and the film, which consisted of shooting three live performances, along with getting some shots of the audience. 

While Hamilton is regarded one of the best musicals of all time, it's also over two hours long. So you'll probably want to make a lot of popcorn.
