How to Watch "Class Action Park" in Australia

The water park was high-key dangerous.

If you are the kind of person who always challenges their friends to go down the biggest and scariest slides at water parks, you probably would have jumped at the chance to go to Action Park in the '80s and '90s.

Located in New Jersey, Action Park primarily consisted of water-based attractions and originally opened to the public in 1978.

But here's the thing: the slides at Action Park weren't like the slides at Adventure World or Wet'n'Wild. Instead, the park consisted of wheeled rides with no brakes; a freshwater pool with giant waves that required lifeguards to rescue over two dozen people a day; and a complete loop water slide.

Basically, it was anything but safe.

Now, a feature-length HBO Max documentary has been made about the park, called Class Action Park.

Australian viewers will be able to watch it at the end of the month, because it's coming to BINGE on Wednesday 30 September. So, add that to your calendar if you're a BINGE subscriber. The doco will enable viewers to experience first-hand the absolute insanity of this dangerous water park via real-life footage and testimonials.

It uses investigative journalism, newly unearthed and never-before-seen documents and recordings, original animations, and interviews with the people who lived it to reveal the true story for the first time.

Class Action Park is produced and directed by Chris Charles Scott and Seth Porges.

Action Park was shut down in 1996 after personal injury lawsuits led to the closure of an increasing number of rides.

There were countless injuries at the park, and six people died there. The Washington Post also reported that people lost teeth while riding the Cannonball Loop, a 360-degree water slide.

So, it's safe to say there won't be another park quite like Action Park ever again (thank goodness).
