How to Score Free Kicks on “FIFA 21” Every Time

Everyone knows that you’ve made it as a FIFA player when you can score a free kick by skill and not dumb luck.

However, with the game getting a new edition every year, EA Sports like to change how to take a free kick.

Don’t worry though, we’ve done all the hard work and put it into a short ‘how to’ video to get you scoring free kicks from all over the park.

Otherwise, here's a step-by-step walkthrough on how to do it: 

Aim your shot just above the crossbar.

After you’ve chosen your preferred kick-taker—which should be the player with the highest FK stat—you’re going to want to pick where you want your kick to go.

If you’re on the left side of the goals, it’s best to aim for the top left and vice versa if you’re on the right side of goal.

Having a left or right-footed player isn’t going to make a big difference here, so the choice is up to you.

With the left analog stick, guide the target so it sits above the top of the crossbar. You might find it’s hard to control at first but after a few tries and finesse you will nail the position every time.

Once you press shoot, the target will lock into place and you don’t need to worry about the position anymore.

Hold shoot for two-and-a-half power bars.

Scoring free kicks is dependent on how much power you use. Too much power and the ball will go over the bar. Too little and the keeper will save it.

The perfect amount of power for scoring is two-and-a-half on the power bar. Keep an eye on the power bar at the bottom left of the screen and release shoot when it hits two-and-a-half.

Like aiming the target, landing on two-and-a-half every time isn’t easy, so it might take a few tries before you nail it.

Push the right analog stick forward to get top spin.

Now that the hard part is over, all that needs to be done is for you to add some top spin to the ball. This will help the ball dip below the crossbar and into the top corner.

To add top spin, once the player starts running towards the ball, push the right analog stick forwards all the way and hold it.

Dominate everyone, everywhere.

With that all done, you’ve now scored and become a master of the free kick in FIFA 21. Time to go and dominate the competition in Career Mode, Football Ultimate Team or even some one-vs-one with your mates.
