Hit Girl from "Kick-Ass" Will Hunt Hollywood Predators in New Comic Series

This could be a really bad idea. Or, it could be cathartic. I suppose it depends on the... execution.

The author of the Kick-Ass comics has unveiled a new spin-off series, focusing on teenage assassin Hit Girl as she takes down Hollywood predators.

Mark Millar—who loves courting controversy in both his comics, such as Kingsman and Wanted, and interviews—dropped the cover and first details of Hit Girl: The Golden Rage of Hollywood to Deadline.

Penned by Kevin Smith (of Jay and Silent Bob and SModcast fame), the four-issue series will feature Mindy McCready, AKA Hit Girl, seeking out and assassinating Hollywood predators.

It will be illustrated by Pernille Ørum, who becomes the first woman to draw an entire Hit-Girl arc, as Smith puts it.

The title comes in the wake of the #MeToo movement, in which actors and filmmakers (among others in the entertainment industry) were exposed for their histories of harassment and sexual abuse.

So, will Harvey Weinstein—the first major figure to be exposed, and a former collaborator of Kevin Smith—wind-up facing the wrong end of Mindy McCready's blade? (Smith pledged to donate all ongoing residuals from his Miramax and Weinstein Co. films to the Women in Film non-profit.)

Chloë Grace Moretz played the conscience-free Hit Girl in the two live-action Kick-Ass movies, but it seems unlikely Hit Girl: The Golden Rage of Hollywood will wind up getting the big screen treatment.

Last week, Moretz even said she hoped the abandoned film she made with Louis C.K.—another high profile comedian exposed thanks to #MeToo—would "just kind of go away".

The first issue of Hit Girl: The Golden Rage of Hollywood arrives in January 2019.
