Here Is Everyone Who Should Have Won Emmy Awards But Didn’t

A moment of silence is needed.

The winners of the 2019 Emmy Awards have been announced, and many were undoubtedly worthy. Pheobe Waller-Bridge won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy, with Fleabag sweeping most of the comedy awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series. Plus, the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series went to Billy Porter, making him the first openly gay man of colour to take out the category.

We’d love to say that everyone is happy for all the winners. But this is an awards show we’re talking about, and there were snubs.

We get it. Acting is a hard gig. Everyone is deserving of holding that Emmy statuette.

But according to the internet, some are more deserving than others.

So, let’s take a moment to reflect on the actors and actresses who deserved to make people all around the world cry with their acceptance speeches.

Amy Adams

Topping the list is our precious Amy Adams, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie for Sharp Objects. Given, winner Michelle Williams delivered an absolutely brilliant acceptance speech, but we still can't help but think #JusticeForAmy.

Although this was Amy's first Emmy nomination from the Television Academy, she has received six Academy Award nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

At this point, we don't know what she has to do to win. What are the respective Academies waiting for? Does she need to pull a Leonardo DiCaprio and act in freezing conditions to finally be recognised? Maybe. Look, it's beyond us, and it's beyond Twitter as well.

Gwendoline Christie

After successfully getting herself nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for portraying Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones, we were convinced that Gwendy was on the path to award show domination.

We were wrong.

A shocked Julia Garner took out the award for her role in Ozark, beating other GoT cast members Lena Headey, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner as well.

Yes, Ozark is great and everything, but who else could have given the performance that Gwendoline did as Sir Brienne? The answer is no one. However, Gwendoline still asserted her place as absolute Queen on the carpet, proving to everyone everywhere that God is most definitely a woman.

Stephen Root

Vulture said the Emmy should go to him. The people wanted the Emmy to go to him. But did it? No.

Nominated for Oustanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his role in Barry, he lost out to Tony Shalhoub for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Fortunately, it was only his first Emmy nomination, so we still have time for Root to take his rightful place as winner.

Isaac Hempstead Wright

Okay, we know that Isaac wasn't nominated for an Emmy for wheeling around as Bran Stark in GoT. But we're talking about who was snubbed, and boy was he snubbed.

When the nominated GoT cast members emerged onto the stage, it seemed nice. Some might have even thought it was a touching tribute. However, Twitter fundamentally disagreed, with fans demanding to know why Bran was not invited to grace the Emmy's stage with his presence.

He is King after all.

To the actors and actresses who were snubbed: we see you, and we're sorry.
