Harry Gives Sydney Thumbs Up for Marriage Equality: "Congratulations to Your Country for Waking Up"

Harry Styles has briefly stopped dancing around hurled fruit to congratulate Australia on voting for marriage equality.

At his live show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Sunday, Styles yanked out a couple of rainbow flags before talking to the crowd about the recent result of our marriage equality postal survey.

“I’d like to say a massive congratulations to your country for waking up,” he said, to delighted screams.

Earlier this month, Australia overwhelming voted in favour of legalising same-sex marriage, with a 61.6 per cent ‘yes’ vote.

This week, the Senate will consider the proposed bill to change the Marriage Act, which will allow same-sex couples to marry.

Once approved, it will go to the lower house and be voted upon. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has said he expects it to be the law of the land by Christmas.

We look forward to hearing Harry address the PM directly at the ARIAs this weekend.
