Harry Shearer Suggests He's Leaving The Simpsons

Harry Shearer has - maybe - left The Simpsons, meaning characters like Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner and Ned Flanders might soon be going the way of Poochie.

The voiceover legend Tweeted the following earlier today, indicating tensions between himself and producer James L. Brooks.

Harry Shearer

The Simpsons was recently renewed for a further two seasons, but reports suggested there was a lone holdout from the voice-cast who was hoping for more merchandising coin.

It's probably safe to assume that holdout was Shearer, who it now seems won't be a part of The Simpsons' upcoming 27th and 28th seasons.

Though a new actor could take over his characters, something inimitable will be lost by Shearer's exit.

So, prepare your farewell to Smithers, Otto, Lenny, Dr. Hibbert, Kent Brockman, Reverend Lovejoy and, of course, dolphin overlord King Snorky. (Okay, that last one is no real loss, but the others!)
