You Need This: Guy Sebastian's Guide to Auditions, Singing Competitions and Job Interviews

If anyone knows how to make it on a televised singing competition, it's Guy Sebastian.

Not only did Guy defeat Nollsy (Nollsy!) to win the very first season of Australian Idol back in 2004, but he's been mentoring contenders on The X Factor since 2010.

So, when he swung by Student Edge HQ to promote his new album Conscious (out November 3), we had to ask him for his auditioning dos and don'ts. 

(Not a singer? Guy reckons most of these tips will work for anyone, whether you're interviewing for a job or going up for an acting role. And why would he lie? He's given you so much already, Australia! How dare you question his authority?)

So, take his sage advice. As he says: "It just saves you looking like an ass."
