Google Has Found A Way To Save Us From Spoilers

Seems Google is nervous about those upcoming Game of Thrones spoilers too.

The search giant has just patented new software to keep you safe from spoilers for television episodes you’ve not yet seen.

According to Quartz, Google’s new software would track your progress on a particular program through your social networks (from the content of your posts, to more obvious means, such as Netflix notifications).

Based on what you share with the world, Google would be able to block content that might spoil say, Better Call Saul or The Walking Dead, giving you the option of seeing the full message after providing you with a spoiler warning. Check out a picture of the proposed system from the US Patent and Trademark Office.

If you’re the kind of person who posts spoilers willy-nilly (aka, the worst kind of person), you could even pre-emptively flag your message with a warning, to keep the rest of us from immediately unfriending you.

When can we use this miraculous new technology? A Google representative was cagey when quizzed by Quartz, saying some ideas “mature into real products or services [and] some don’t.”

Not knowing is the worst.
