Get Ready: Tame Impala Have Announced Their Biggest Aussie Tour Ever

They’ll be heading down under in April 2020.

Update (29/09/20): Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tour has now been pushed back to December 2021. The new 2021 dates are 5 December in Auckland, 7 December in Sydney, 9 December in Brisbane, 12 December in Melbourne, 13 December in Melbourne, 15 December in Adelaide and 18 December in Perth.

If you've already purchased tickets, they'll be valid for the corresponding rescheduled dates. Patrons unable to attend will be entitled to a full refund from their authorised point of purchase.

It has been a massive year for Australian psychedelic band Tame Impala. They headlined night two of Coachella’s opening weekend, played sets at Splendour In The Grass, and now they’re gearing up to release their fourth studio album called The Slow Rush.

So, to add to that: they have just announced their largest ever tour of Australia and New Zealand.

After the upcoming album drops on 14 February, frontman Kevin Parker and the rest of the crew will travel to Auckland to kick things off on 16 April, before heading to Australia to perform in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide.

The band will wrap up the Australian leg of the tour with a hometown show in Perth at RAC Arena on 28 April.

American musical trio Khruangbin will join Tame Impala as their support act for their Aussie shows.

However, the announcements don’t stop there. Parker has also revealed that the group will be donating $300,000 to Australia’s bushfire relief.

"In the past few weeks I’ve been devastated to see what’s been happening with the fires at home and we want to do our bit to help, so we’re going to be donating $300,000 to bushfire relief charities," Parker said in a statement.

"We’ve all seen so many generous donations coming in from all around the world, which is amazing.

"We’re still working through exactly where the dollars will go but I want to ensure that no charity in need during this time is overlooked and that our contribution is helpful for both human and wildlife victims," he said.

Presale begins Thursday 23 January from 12pm local time, and will run for 24 hours. However, you'll have to be a member of Frontier, Tame Impala Fan Club, Chugg Entertainment, or Laneway Presents to grab presale tickets.

General tickets will go on sale on Tuesday 28 January, from 10am local time in Australia, and 12pm local time in NZ. You can buy tickets to the Auckland show here, and the Australian shows here.

There’s a strict limit of 10 tickets per customer, so you can’t be too greedy.

We predict these tickets will sell out fast, so make sure you’re online and ready to go at those times.
