"Game Of Thrones" Will Run For At Least Three More Seasons

Praise Khaleesi. HBO has confirmed there will be at least eight seasons of their hit show Game of Thrones.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo revealed that the series would not tap out at seven seasons, as had long been rumoured. EW captured his tantalising quotes on the subject.

“Seven-seasons-and-out has never been the [internal] conversation… The question is: How much beyond seven are we going to do?” Lombardo teased.

“[Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are] feel like there’s two more years after six. I would always love for them to change their minds, but that’s what we’re looking at right now.”

When asked if HBO would consider airing a prequel series, based on excised material from George R.R. Martin’s books, Lombardo was like... hey, maybe!

“I would be open to anything that Dan and David wanted to do—about Game of Thrones, or any subject matter.”

Oh, and on the matter of that one dude who – spoiler alert, but come on - may or may not have been murdered in the final episode of Season 5: “Dead is dead is dead.”

Lombardo added, for emphasis, “He be dead. Um, yes. Everything I’ve seen, heard and read, Jon Snow is indeed dead.”
