G Flip Smashed a Cover of “Lady Marmalade” With An All-Female Band

She performed the track for triple j's Like A Version.

The first time we noticed G Flip on triple j's Like A Version was for Alex Lahey's cover of the iconic "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance. People were highly amused by Georgia Flipo's incredible enthusiasm while playing percussion.

Since that moment, all anyone has wanted is for G Flip to perform her own Like A Verison cover. Today, her time finally came, and she certainly did not disappoint. 

After playing her original song "Hyperfine", G Flip performed an electric rendition of Christina Aguilera, Mya, Lil' Kim and Pink's version of "Lady Marmalade".

She was accompanied by an all-star girl band as well, including Jess B, Thandi Phoenix, Isabella Manfredi (The Preatures), Jess Kent, Alex The Astronaut, Rosie Fitzgerald (I Know Leopard), Clio Renner, Kate Richards, Bernice Tesara and Carla Dobbie. 

Considering it'll be the last Like A Version before International Women's Day this Sunday, it was pretty damn special.

Can we just say: Alex the Astronaut absolutely killed it on the cowbell.

G Flip told triple j presenters Sally and Erica that she's been making a shortlist of songs for years, but ultimately decided to perform "Lady Marmalade". 

"International Women's Day is a day to bring together and celebrate women. My cover is a culmination fo exactly that. It felt right to gather some of my very talented female buddies and smash out this song together," she said.

Additionally, the talented performer also announced that she'll be heading on tour in 2020, coinciding with her gigs at One Tropical Day in Darwin on Saturday 2 May, Big Pineapple Festival in Sunshine Coast on Saturday 30 May, and Byron Bay's Splendour In The Grass in July.
