"Friends" Is Heading to Netflix and Binge in Australia

Could it be on any more streaming platforms?
Just like that time Monica and Rachel swapped apartments with Joey and Chandler, Friends is moving to Netflix and Binge in Australia.
(Did Stan, who previously held exclusive streaming rights, lose a bet by saying Chandler Bing was a transponster? That’s not even a word!)
All ten seasons of the classic '90s sitcom will arrive on Netflix Australia from 17 September.

Ironically, it was pulled from Netflix in the United States so it could be added to HBO Max in the United States. But since we don’t have HBO Max here, the Warner Bros. catalogue (to which Friends belongs) is allowed to be non-exclusive, just like Ross (incorrectly) thought he was after he and Rachel had that fight. (They were not on a break.)
What’s particularly interesting is that Friends isn’t simply heading to Netflix. It’ll also debut all ten seasons on Binge on 17 September as well. (Affiliate disclosure: Student Edge may earn a commission if you click that link and buy a product from our partner's page.)
As of this writing, it’s technically still available to stream on Stan as well.
We’ve reached out to Stan Australia to find out if it’ll actually remain on the platform post-17 September. (It is, after all, the exclusive home to HBO Max originals Search Party and Love Life down under.) Given all this confusion, it’s not known where HBO Max’s unscripted Friends reunion will eventually land, though no decision needs to be made for a while, given filming was delayed by COVID-19.
We’ll update this post as soon as we receive word on either. In the meantime…
