French Police Arrest 17 People On Suspicion Of Involvement In The Robbery Of Kim K

Seventeen people were arrested in France on Monday, suspected of being involved in the robbery of Kim Kardashian; some suspects are in their 50s and 60s.
The search continues for the people responsible for Kim Kardashian’s robbery during Paris Fashion Week in October. In the latest set of developments, police have arrested 14 men and three women who may be connected to crime.
Details about what each suspect’s role in the robbery may have been are yet to be revealed, but under French law, they can be held for questioning for up to four days before they’re released or charged.
To shed a little bit of light on the situation, French officials have described the suspects as veteran criminals with years of experience and underground skills. In fact, the eldest suspect is a man from Grasse in southeastern France who was born during World War II and hit retirement age before Twitter or Instagram was even a thing.

Much of the Kardashian/Jenner family went into social media lockdown after the event, perhaps thinking their social activity was being tracked by thieves.
One spokeswoman for the Paris prosecutor’s office, Agnès Thibault-Lecuivre, said the suspects appear to be part of an organised crime group. Most have previous convictions for drug trafficking or aggravated theft.
Some of the assailants were identified using DNA evidence gathered at the scene of the crime, and security camera images. A police union spokesman, Luc Poignant, said officers have used the information available to them to uncover a wider criminal network.
Mr Poignant described crime syndicates in layers of involvement; everyone has a different role. “You have the robbers, and then the one who is going to sell off the goods, the one who puts people in touch, the stone cutter, et cetera”, he explained.

Kim K has just recently returned to social media after distancing herself following the robbery. In a promotional clip for the upcoming season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim can be seen tearfully recounting the events.
“They’re going to shoot me in the back,” she remembered thinking at the time. “There’s no way out of it.”
