Female Lombax Finally Gets a Name in the New "Ratchet & Clank" Trailer

*Urge to buy a PS5 growing stronger.*

I don’t care what kind of gamer you are, if you aren’t excited about the new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart then do you even game at all?

Okay, that might be too harsh. I’m just passionate about nostalgic games from my childhood, okay?

Insomniac Games released the gameplay trailer yesterday for the new game and man do I want 11 June to come quick.

One of the most exciting reveals from the trailer is that we now have a name for the new female Lombax.

For all you newcomers to the Ratchet & Clank universe, a Lombax is a humanoid feline-like species. They descend from a race of talented engineers and are extremely talented in all things machinery.

The series’ main character, Ratchet, is a Lombax.

Okay, enough of my nerd-fest.

In the announcement trailer released almost a year ago we got a brief cameo of the female Lombax who has since been revealed to be on the cover art of the game too.

Up until yesterday we didn’t have a name for her. Thanks to the trailer, we now know her to be Rivet.

Gamers will be getting to spend a lot of time playing as her alongside Ratchet and Clank as they battle through different dimensions to defeat Nefarious.

Speaking of those dimensions, let’s talk about how quickly players can transport between them.

Incase you didn’t know, Rift Apart is going to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive game (sorry PS4 owners). Spare you anger though because there’s a good reason why Insomniac have done this: load times.

The new trailer shows off how quickly the game loads between different dimensions and I gotta admit, it’s super-fast.

Check out the gif below of Ratchet teleporting through a rift into another dimension. Tell me you’re not impressed by how quick the world built?

Amazingly, game developer at Insomniac James Stevenson said the gif isn’t even a true reflection of the load times.

“It will Probably be slightly faster by the time you play it in June,” he wrote on a Ratchet & Clank forum site.

Dayum son.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5 on 11 June.
