Emma Stone and Jonah Hill Have a Staring Contest in the Trailer for Netflix’s "Maniac"

That Superbad reunion you’ve been praying looks… different.

Netflix has dropped the first (extremely vague but evocative) trailer for Maniac, the limited series starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone AKA Seth and Jules from Superbad, film and literature’s greatest ever pairing.

(Kidding. Film and literature’s greatest ever pairing is Seth and Evan, also from Superbad.)

Anyway, Maniac looks nothing like Superbad. Check out the first clip from the show below.

The series is based on a Norwegian show of the same name, and follows two strangers (Hill, Stone) on a mysterious drug trial. It’s directed by Cary Fukunaga, who helmed season one of True Detective.

We’re getting serious Legion vibes from the teaser; maybe it’s just the psychedelic lights and institution-grade jumpsuits. But we’ll find out just how nutty it gets when all episodes debut on Netflix this 23 September.

Either way, it’s just good to see Emma and Jonah together again.
