Don’t Fret: “The Simpsons” Isn’t Actually Coming to An End

Everything’s coming up Milhouse!

Earlier this week, The Simpsons composer Danny Elfman sent the internet into a state of absolute panic, after hinting that the world’s longest-running show was set to end in the near future.

Elfman, who came up with the show’s iconic theme tune, appeared on Irish podcast JOE and revealed that the beloved animation series might be finishing up.

"From what I’ve heard, it will be coming to an end," he said.

"I don’t know for a fact, but I’ve heard that it will be in its last year."

The composer also added that he has been shocked by the success of the show, which has aired more than 600 episodes across 30 years.

"I’m so flabbergasted and amazed that it has lasted as long as it did.

"You have to realise, when I score The Simpsons, I wrote this crazy piece of music, and I expected no one would hear it, because I really did not think the show had a chance in hell."

Naturally, Elfman’s quotes were picked up quicker than Homer consumes doughnuts.

People took some time to let the news sink in.

However, others believe it is time for the series to wrap up, considering the jokes aren’t as fresh as they once were.

Either way, all opinions regarding The Simpsons coming to an end are now irrelevant, because executive producer Al Jean has quashed the rumours.

Taking to Twitter, Jean wrote that the reports are simply "not true".

Phew.

It's not clear as to why Elfman believed the show would be ending. Although, having been renewed for Seasons 31 and 32 by Fox this year, it looks like you’ll be seeing Lisa’s saxophone solos for at least a while longer.

You can stream The Simpsons on Disney+ to relive all your favourite moments, or catch it on 7flix.
