Dictionary.com Takes a Salty Swipe at Kylie Jenner's Fortunes

Dictionary.com does not think Kylie Jenner is self-made.

In case you missed the news yesterday, Kylie Jenner graced the cover of Forbes with a tagline that read "self-made billionaire."

It certainly raised some perfectly-lined brows, because while Jenner might well be on her way to becoming the youngest ever billionaire, an impressive achievement for anyone, she's certainly not what many would describe as "self-made."

Donald Trump also claims he is self-made, despite inheriting his father's real estate empire, adding to the list of supposed rags-to-riches narratives.

So, to clear things up, Dictionary.com stepped in to offer their take and boy, oh boy, was it a salty one.

People couldn't help but laugh at the perceived roast.

But while it was a hilarious dig at Forbes' description of the young make-up entrepreneur, feminist author Roxane Gay pointed out that the dictionary's definition is less of a dig and more of a correction.

It is not shade to point out that Kylie Jenner isn’t self-made. She grew up in a wealthy, famous family. Her success is commendable but it comes by virtue of her privilege. Words have meanings and it behooves a dictionary to remind us of that. https://t.co/2HzIJbLb8q
