Dasher Stories with Sergio

From student to teacher 👨🏫
This article and podcast series is presented in partnership with DoorDash.
In the newest episode of Dasher Stories, we sit down with Sergio a Dasher who is studying to become an Electrical Engineer.
While there are plenty of reasons to start Dashing (think a flexible side hustle, saving for your next holiday or just some spending money as a student), Sergio told us he decided to start Dashing as an almost-immediate way for him to start earning after moving from Columbia to Brisbane.
"I arrived here and I was also learning English...I wasn't that confident," he told Student Edge.
"You arrive here, you have to look for a job, you have to go to restaurants, stores everywhere and give your resume to all of them and sometimes you don't get anything.
"So DoorDash is one of the options we have to start making money on our own."
And it also helped him build his confidence.
Moving from Columbia, Dashing was also a way for him to learn English. Now he's able to help other Dashers in similar positions.
He remembers working in a restaurant when a Dasher arrived who was lost.
"She showed me her phone and it was DoorDash and the app was in Spanish so I was like 'oh do you speak Spanish?'," he said.
"So I could help her and said you've got the wrong address, you have to go this way and that's the real address.
"It was lucky that I was there and I knew her language too because she was pretty lost."
Talk about a wholesome tale!
