Court Hears It Was a Mistake to Give WA Rich Girl Money For More Than 70 Years of Pilates Classes

Western Australian rich person and daughter of even richer person, Olivia Mead, has been told in the courts that her claims are “quite extraordinary”.

In 2015, a court ruled that she be entitled to $25 million in inheritance after her father's will only left her with $3 million. This came after a list of some pretty excessive needs were outlined by Mead's lawyer.

In 2017, however, that court ruling is facing a hearing in the Court of Appeal meaning that Mead may lose some of that extra $22 million.

The estate's lawyer Jane Needham SC, has said that Mead's list of requests was "quite extraordinary" and went beyond her needs.

Mead's father is Australian businessmen Michael Wright, who passed away in 2012, leaving behind his fortune of up to $1.2 billion.

Mead argued that the amount left for her was not adequate to live out her lifestyle. Her lawyer argued that she needed enough to cover the cost of a house five times the median price in Perth. (Hint: Median price is about $800,000, so that means at least $4 million.)

She also included the cost of weekly utilities at $300, $950 for food and drinks, and of course, two pairs of Tiffany and Co. sunglasses a year.

But here are the real kickers.

Also included in her necessities was a diamond-encrusted bass guitar (it's so essential to life) worth a cool $250,000, 20 pairs of $300 shoes a year and weekly pilates lessons to last her until she's 97 years old.
