Could "Gavin & Stacey" Return to Our Television Screens for Another Episode?

Rob Brydon has teased the possibility.

If you’ve been on the hunt for some good ol’ fashioned British comedy, you might just be in luck ‘cos Welsh actor, comedian, radio and television presenter Rob Brydon has suggested that fans might get one last special episode of Gavin & Stacey.

During his podcast Brydon & the actor said, “Well, I think they might do one more special. Because they left it hanging, didn’t they, with the proposal?”

"So, it would seem strange if they didn’t. But they should crack on if they are going to do it."

Essentially, Brydon—who played Bryn West in the series—reckons that writers James Corden and Ruth Jones left fans of the comedy wanting more after the 2019 Christmas special.

In particular, Brydon is referring to cliffhangers like Nessa proposing to Smithy.

For those of you who’ve never seen the show, it tracked the fast-moving romance between Essex lad Gavin Shipman (Matthew Horne) and Welshwoman Stacey West (Joanna Page), and the coming-together of their nutty families, not to mention the electric, occasionally baffling encounters between Gav’s best mate Smithy (James Corden) and Stacey’s worldly BFF Nessa (Jones).

The Christmas special was held almost 10 years after the end of the original series, and it’s been another two since the special. So, it’ll definitely be a treat an a half to get another episode.

Sheridan Smith, the actor who played Smithy’s sister Rush ‘Rudi’ explained that fans still can’t get enough of the show, even after the special.

"They created this masterpiece sort of one-off Christmas special,” she said on the podcast.

"Now everyone’s asking for more, aren’t they?"

While this news is promising, it doesn’t exactly confirm the existence of a new episode, but we can only keep our fingers crossed.
