Coles Have Divided Aussies By Creating a Meat Pie With Sauce Baked in

A controversial twist on an Aussie classic.

Are you sick of paying 30 cents for that little squeezy tomato sauce packet when you buy a meat pie? Thankfully, Coles have solved that first world problem with their new invention: tomato sauce beef pies.

The new pie comes with a hidden layer of tomato sauce underneath the lid of pastry, saving pie enthusiasts from wasting precious time and money from having to apply their own sauce.

Along with the new pie, the slogan that Coles have gone for on the packet reads: “We’ve added the sauce so you don’t have to." It really seals the deal.

Finally, a supermarket giant who understands my needs.

It begs the question: Was applying your own sauce to a pie ever considered a chore? ‘Cos Coles certainly think so, but I can’t ever recall a moment in my extensive pie-eating history where I lamented how exhausting squirting tommy sauce on a pie was.

And don’t get me started on the financial burden of a 30-cent sauce packet.

Plus, have Coles pumped the tomato sauce pie with enough sauce? I wouldn’t blame the Aussie people if they were hesitant to try the pie if the quantity of tomato sauce used is out of their hands.

As a long-time connoisseur of tomato sauce, I prefer my meat pie to be drowning in tomato sauce. That stuff is like liquid gold. Despite this, I admit that for the sake of curiosity, I will probably have to give Coles’ new pie a taste test.

For anyone keen to do so as well, Coles are selling a packet of two tomato sauce pies for $5.
