Cheap Eats: Sapore Espresso Bar, WA

Sapore Espresso Bar in Belmont is the latest coffee café, late breakfast diner (2pm anyone?) and indulgent milkshake supplier all under one roof.

The atmosphere is very cosy with its red brick walls covered with movie posters, and wooden spoon order numbers. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee on the go, reading on the comfy couches whilst devouring a caramel popcorn milkshake (it’s un-believable), or having a belated breakfast with friends, it’s sure to make you feel welcome.
Everything to eat is under $20, with only the pub-sized parmigiana, and squid rings breaking that rule by less than two dollars each.
The first time I tried Sapore, I ordered a steak sandwich. For $19.90 you get Turkish bread filled with steak, caramelised onion, aioli and salad, served with a pile of rustic hand cut chips. I was impressed and albeit a little shocked when I managed to eat all of the massive serve. I shared it with a friend on my next visit (costing me only ten dollars).
Given I now had more to spend, I decided to try one of their gourmet milkshakes and was not disappointed. As I stood in line, I watched as the girl behind the counter made a chocolate milkshake with Nutella! When it was brought out it had whipped cream and a Ferrero Rocher on top. I was so angry at myself for having a nut allergy when I saw it, so I got the next best thing… their caramel popcorn shake. And if you don’t have as big of a sweet tooth as I do, they have healthy juices and smoothies too.

Despite going in rush hour, the service was prompt and they had our drinks to us within five minutes of ordering, with the food following very soon after.
Coming in once won’t be enough (just ask me), so I’m sure I’ll see you there soon.
