Charli XCX’s “Boys” Video is Exploding on YouTube, and It’s Pretty Easy to See Why

Charli XCX has struggled in recent years to replicate the success of “Boom Clap” (or the greatness of her album True Romance).

But her new single, “Boys”, could be her biggest hit in ages, with the clip, as of this writing, the #2 Trending video on YouTube (after the new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok; understandable).

Why’s it blowing up?

Well, the presence of internet boyfriends Riz Ahmed, Mac DeMarco, Joe Jonas, Charlie Puth, Khalid and many, many more as the titular “Boys” probably deserves much of the credit. Local boys Flume and Vance Joy even get in on the action. (See the full list of participants here.)

Charli has ceded the floor in the video to the cavalcade of objectified gents, only popping up briefly with a fake moustache.

It has earned more than three million views in a little more than 24 hours. Watch below and see why for yourself.
