Calvin Harris And Zayn Malik Start Unlikely Twitter Feud Over Taylor Swift (Of Course)

Can every beef of 2015 be traced back to Taylor Swift? Will she eventually be revealed to have orchestrated the rift between Meek Mill and Drake too?

Perhaps not. However, she’s an integral ingredient in the sudden, unlikely feud between DJ Calvin Harris and former One Directioner Zayn Malik. (Let's call it: The Bro-pocalypse.)

It all began when Malik retweeted a post that criticised Swift’s decision to pull her music from Spotify, comparing her statements on the matter to a quote from Miley Cyrus, who is apparently pretty chill about not receiving remuneration for her tunes.

Swift’s boyfriend, Harris, made the common Twitter miscalculation of reading the retweet as an endorsement, and began taking Malik to task for his apparent siding with Cyrus on the issue.

“@FemaleTexts @zaynmalik You’ve made your money? Cool…f*** the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah f*** em”

Then the subtweets began.

“If you don’t get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry… stay out my f***** mentions pls,” Harris continued.

“While you kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there’s some poor f***** in a basement making your new favourite record trying to survive.”

Then Zayn came back at him.

The superstar DJ, rightfully fearing a Twitter bombardment by the 1D faithful, tried to patch things up with Malik.

But not before Zayn snuck in a reference to Meek Mill’s claims that Drake’s raps are ghostwritten.

“Oh and I write my own s*** too d***head”

Zayn, set, match. A shame, really, as Harris is actually making a decent point. But if you come at the Malik, you best not miss.
