Some of The Biggest Moments from the 2025 Grammys

What were the biggest moments from music’s biggest night?

It’s that time of year again where we all sit, refreshing our social media feeds pining over what celebrities are wearing and, more importantly, what they’re nominated for. The Grammys are back this year in Los Angeles with some incredible performances from Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eillish, Doechii and more.

We we asked 1000's gen z's in our January Survey what they enjoy most about watching the Grammys and while 43% of people said they don’t watch the award show, approximately 60% still engage with the Grammys in some form – mostly through the red carpet looks, live performances and seeing their favourite artists get nominated.

Plus, the 2025 Grammys made fire relief central to the show and host Trevor Noah revealed towards the end of the show that $7 million was raised for relief efforts for the devastating fires in LA that destroyed thousands of structures. This is some huge, good news for our Monday 🥳

Chappell Roan called out the music industry.

When Chappell Roan won the award for Best New Artist, she used her time on stage to call out the “most powerful people in music.”

"I told myself if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a liveable wage and health care, especially to developing artists," she said in her acceptance speech.

She explained that she was signed for the first time as a minor and struggled to find work and afford health insurance during the COVID-19 pandemic when she was dropped from her first label.

Good on you Chappell!

Beyoncé winning Album of the Year.

Beyoncé? Beyoncé?! Yes Beyoncé! Believe it not, she has an astounding 32 Grammys to her name, but she has never won Album of the Year.

Her country record Cowboy Carter has finally done it, as she accepted the award with her daughter Blue Ivy on stage with her.

She also made history as being the first Black woman to win a country Grammy in more than 50 years. She snagged the award for Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for II Most Wanted, featuring Miley Cyrus.

Doechii wins best rap album.

Our favourite “Swamp Princess” has taken home the gold. This breakout hip-hop star took home the prize for Best Rap Album and made award show history as she became the third woman to win after Lauryn Hill in 1997 and Cardi B in 2019. She accepted the award with a beautiful speech, talking about the hard work and dedication that went into making her album: Alligator Bites Never Heal.

Song of the Year goes to Kendrick Lamar for “Not Like Us”.

In the aftermath of the Drake and Kendrick beef, Kendrick’s hit song Not Like Us did more than just get an huge amount of plays on Spotify (much to Drake’s dismay) but it also won Song of the Year.

Also, a side note that Kendrick was wearing a Canadian tuxedo (an all denim fit) while accepting the award... 👀

Ironically, while Kendrick has taken home a few Grammys tonight, Drake was last seen at Perth’s Cottesloe Beach Hotel.

No shade Drake, we're not taking any sides in this beef.

The Weeknd returns to the Grammys four years after 'boycott'.

The Weeknd boycotted the 2021 Grammys after his album After Hours was completely snubbed, even though it was a huge success. He felt the Grammys were unfair, especially to artists of colour, and criticised them for being corrupt. Frustrated his album wasn’t even nominated, he chose to skip the ceremony and made a point to perform at the Super Bowl instead.

Now, he’s returned to the Grammys after the Recording Academy, the committee behind the awards, took steps to make the voting process more equitable and transparent.
