Beyoncé Is Dropping Something Called “Lemonade” This Week; Let’s Assume It’s The New Album

We are at threat level: midnight.

Queen Bey is unveiling something called Lemonade on HBO this weekend, and we’re just going to assume it’s her long-awaited new album, because maybe that’ll help will the thing into existence.

Here’s the evidence: a mysterious teaser released by HBO promoting “a world premiere event” (Sunday AEST).

It’s chock full of enigmatic, expensive-looking footage that we’re comfortable believing to be excerpts from music videos for each of her new album’s songs. (If you recall, she dropped the self-titled Beyoncé in 2013 with a clip for each tune.) Might the HBO event be a screening of her new vids back-to-back?

We already know she has the video for new single “Formation” in the bag, and that she reportedly met with the parents of murdered teens Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and Tamir Rice for another.

She’s got a World Tour on the horizon and recently dominated the Super Bowl halftime show. (No one even remembers that Coldplay was the official guest of honour.)

All signs point to Lemonade being a healthy heaping of new Yoncé.

And yet, there is still a chance that it’s just another short film, like the one she made in 2014, or a lengthy promo for her new activewear line. After all, would she really sneak-release a new record just one week before her buddy Drake shares Views from the 6?

We apologise in advance for unreasonably raising expectations. Then again, Bey does this to us all the time, so we take it back.
