Beyoncé Just Sang "Formation" And "Uptown Funk" With Coldplay And Bruno Mars At Super Bowl 50

How’d you spend your weekend?

Because Beyoncé dropped a racially-charged, Illuminati-referencing new single and video on Saturday, before blowing minds at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday.

Oh, yeah, Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson also played during Super Bowl 50’s break too.

First thing’s first:

The new video for Yoncé’s “Formation” features imagery and lyrics that explicitly evoke the #BlackLivesMatter movement and the state of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

It’s a powerful tune and statement, though documentarian Chris Black has taken to social media to call out Bey’s team for using his footage without offering proper credit.

New Beyonce video used hella clips from the doc I produced and directed by @abteen ...but why?!?! https://t.co/RgWTUr1rtd

(It was later established that the footage from New Orleans, taken from Black's doco That B.E.A.T. had been properly licensed and used with permission.)

Now, to the big show.

Though Coldplay was first out the gate during Super Bowl 50's halftime break with “Viva La Vida”, it was the arrival of Beyoncé, singing “Formation”, that ultimately set the football fans (almost literally) on fire. Then, there was a mash-up of “Crazy In Love” and “Uptown Funk” featuring Chris Martin, which, fine.

Check it out.

Here are some other highlights.

While we wait for the entire Super Bowl show to make its way online, enjoy Bey's show-stopping performance from 2013 below.

FYI, Lady Gaga and her haircut performed the National Anthem at the game's start.

Update: As for the actual game, the Carolina Panthers lost to the Denver Broncos, though if you clicked on this link, it’s probably the last Super Bowl related thing you care about right now.
