Bernard Tomic Arrested In Miami; Tennis Star Apologises For Resisting Police

Bernard Tomic’s month has gone from bad to worse.

The embattled tennis player was arrested in Miami last night after refusing to turn down the music at his penthouse party, ABC News reports.

Tomic was subsequently charged with resisting arrest; charges that could result in jail time for the 22-year-old.

He was staying at a $10,000-a-night suite in the W South Beach Hotel, before being escorted to a less luxurious correctional centre nearby.

Tomic has accepted responsibility for the events, telling media in Miami, “I’m sorry for the police and the disturbance I caused.”

“I’m just happy I got out, and no one got hurt.”

Tomic was dropped by Tennis Australia’s Davis Cup team last week after making controversial comments at a press conference about the organisation and its Director of Performance, Pat Rafter.

Rafter told 2GB that Tomic “probably hit rock bottom” with the arrest, adding, “hopefully when people hit rock bottom, they can turn things around.”

We hope the same.
