Our webseries Back to School With invites Australia's most interesting and successful people to share stories from their school days. In each ep, they let us know how they landed their dream careers, as well as how they faced all those inevitable obstacles of teenagerdom along the way.

In the fifth episode of the new season, we chat with Ita Buttrose, the legendary journalist, founding editor of Cleo, former Australian of the Year and current host of Studio 10. Ita told us how she decided on her career path at age 11, left school at age 15, and defied the expectations of her era as a working wife and mother.

"You know, girls used to work for a little bit, then they'd get married and have children and go home. Well, I did get married. I did have children. I just didn't go home."
