Back To School With Damian Martin

In the seventh episode of Back To School With Season Five, we chat to the Aussie baller who faced off against Kevin Durant.

This post is presented in partnership with Bankwest.

Our webseries Back to School With invites Australia's most interesting and successful people to share stories from their school days. In each ep, they let us know how they landed their dream careers, as well as how they faced all those inevitable obstacles of teenagerdom along the way.

In the first four seasons, we interviewed David Koch, Julie Bishop, Samantha Jade, Dr. Karl, Daniel Ricciardo, Tom Ballard, Gretel Killeen, John Marsden and many, many other fascinating peeps.

And yet, Season Five looks to be our biggest season to date.

In the seventh episode of the new season, we chat with Damian Martin, captain of the Perth Wildcats and member of the national basketball team that almost brought down U.S.A. at the Olympics. We asked Damian what it was like to play basketball in the States (where he studied on a scholarship) and how it felt to face off against - and steal from - NBA legends like Kevin Durant in Rio. Plus: What's it like to be a playable character in NBA 2K?

"It doesn't look anything like me and I'm pretty sure I play right-handed. So, I'm actually left-handed, but in 2K... I don't think they spent much time on my player. I think they were more focused on the bigger names... In 2K18 I might be left-handed."

Check out our chat!

Stay tuned: We'll be dropping new episodes each Tuesday. Join us as we venture back in time with another Aussie legend every week!
