Thanks, Star Wars: 2014 Saw A Spike In Babies Named 'Anakin'

But how many were named Jar Jar?

There has been a spike in babies named Anakin since the announcement of a new Star Wars movie, EW reports.

According to a list of the 1,000 most popular baby names in America, provided by the Social Security Administration, Anakin ranked 957 among boys in 2014.

It is the first time 'Anakin' has cracked the top 1,000 since 2010.

A total of 218 babies were afforded the honour of having Darth Vader as a namesake; the precise amount who were also named Judson, which, in fairness, is actually a weirder name than Anakin.

More reasonably, Luke was the 28th most popular name among boys in the US last year, while Leia was the 509th most popular among girls.

Check back next year to see where Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma place.

Emma and Noah topped the overall list, which, technically, could be attributed to mildly popular movies too.
