Nien Nunb taught us it was okay to be weird.
Nien Nunb, a Star Wars character beloved by all and definitely not being frantically googled by you right now to put a face to a name, has been reportedly killed.

Spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ahead.
According to Wookipedia and confirmed today by @starwarsstuff on Twitter, the Sullustan smuggler died during the Battle of Exegol in J.J. Abrams’ latest franchise instalment, The Rise of Skywalker.
He is best remembered for the reverse-jowl situation on his head, and for having a skull that definitely, definitely wasn’t designed to look like a male sex organ gone extremely wrong.
In the original Star Wars trilogy, he was introduced as co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon alongside Lando Calrissian (specifically during Return of the Jedi), and he continued to appear in numerous Star Wars projects and offshoots, up-to and including the recent Disney-owned features.
It was apparently Abrams' intention for Nunb to perish in The Rise of Skywalker’s climactic battle while flying General Leia Organa's command ship, the Tantive IV, as a result of Palpatine’s Force lightning strike.
(Per the 'pedia: "As the old consular vessel fell from the sky, riddled with blasts of lightning, Nunb and [co-pilot Urcos] Furdam were unable to regain control of their ship and perished as it exploded around them.")
But apparently it happened off screen, so @starwarsstuff had to announce his passing in a tweet of complete earnest sincerity.
Twitter responded by throwing themselves into Nunb’s open grave like an old Italian widow with jokes.
I feel nien numb right now

Nien Nunb is survived by his former captain, Lando Calrissian, who didn’t mourn for a second and was already hitting on his own maybe-daughter before Nunb’s body was cold.
