Arnott's Is Actually Releasing Hawaiian Pizza Shapes and My Mouth Is Watering

Turns out their April Fool's joke was no joke.
Earlier in the month we recounted all the hilarious April Fool's Day jokes that we could find from brands, and 2021 certainly did not disappoint.
However, it seems that one really important reveal did slip under our radar and is now actually making its way onto supermarket shelves.
Yep, that’s right, Arnott's—our fave Aussie bickie makers—announced on 1 April that they would be releasing Hawaiian Pizza flavoured Shapes, but it didn’t exactly get the reaction they were expecting.

Unlike Subway’s reveal of coriander cookies, the customer reaction for Arnott's Hawaiian Pizza Shapes was surprisingly positive.
Basically, Arnott's went in with the prank assuming that because pineapple on pizza was so controversial, it was just going to be a good laugh.
But after posting it, they realised that their customers would not let Arnott's make another move until they released the new flavour.
And if we know anything about Arnott's customers, they can make the bickie company do basically whatever they want. We’ll never forget when Arnott's tried to make ‘new and improved’ versions of the classic Shapes and customers literally forced them to go back.
“Pizza is a top-selling flavour for Shapes, and while we know the concept of pineapple on pizza is highly controversial, it’s also loved by many,” Arnott’s Marketing Manager Shannon Wright told news.com.au.
“We started testing this flavour combination in our Master Baking Kitchen, and when we shared it on Arnott’s Shapes social media, it received an overwhelmingly positive response.
“Once we saw how Shapes fans reacted online, we knew the savoury/sweet/tangy combination of Hawaiian Pizza was an absolute winner that we had to release ASAP.”
In fact, Arnott's found that 66 per cent of Aussies actually love having pineapple on pizza, so take that pineapple haters.

So, when and where can I buy it?
Thankfully, Arnott's have been working hard to perfect this flavour ASAP so it’ll be available exclusively in Coles supermarkets nation-wide from about mid-May.
The new product will retail for about $3.20, so there’s no need to break the bank for this tasty snack.
