The 2022 ARIA Nominations Have Dropped

The best of the best in Aussie music.

The nominations for the 2022 Australian Record Industry Association awards are officially out, and there’s a huge list of nods to get through.

There’s 27 categories of awards this year, ranging from the coveted big awards like Album of the Year and Best Solo Artist, the fan-voted awards like the Song of the Year and the Best Live Act, all the way to the fine arts awards like best Jazz Album.

The clear winner as far as nominations go is Sydney alt electronica outfit RÜFÜS DU SOL, picking up seven nominations, including Best Group and Album of the Year for their release, Surrender.

Facing off against Rufus for the big prize of Album of the Year is Amyl and the Sniffers, Baker Boy, Gang of Youths and King Stingray.

There’s a big group of exciting artists all battling it out for the Best Solo Artist award – that includes Baker Boy, Courtney Barnett, Daniel Johns, Flume, Julia Jacklin, Ruel, The Kid LAROI, Thelma Plum and Vance Joy.

The other big nomination winners include Melbourne punks Amyl and the Sniffers and electronic king Flume, who’ve both picked up six big noms.

Behind them with five noms are The Kid LAROI, King Stingray, Vance Joy and Baker Boy, who’ll be looking for his first ARIA win after six previous nominations.

Everyone’s favourite skivvy-rocking children’s group The Wiggles also got a few nods, including (naturally) their cover album ReWiggled for Best Children’s Album, but they’ve also received a nomination for Best Live Act.

The ARIA Awards are set to take place on the November 24 at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, and are going to be hosted by Natalie Imbruglia and Lewis Capaldi.
