Apple Has Revealed All the Changes We Can Expect From iOS 16

Your text receipts might never be the same again. 

Apple users can expect some major changes and a raft of new upgrades after iOS 16 was unveiled this week at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference.

We don't know when we can expect all the new features to be released (rumours are it will be some time in September, along with the new iPhone 14) but we do know they'll only be applicable to the iPhone 8 and newer.

A long-awaited 'unsend' option for regrettable texts.

We've all sent a text we instantly wished we hadn't (we have right, that's not just me?).

So hallelujah that Apple has finally implemented what they say is one of their "most requested" changes to the iPhone. 

With the launch of iOS 16, users will be able to edit and unsend iMessages to modify questionable texts in the moments after sending them.

A slick new lock screen.

Think custom fonts, personalised widgets and photos you can reposition with this overhaul of the lock screen.

Change the clock, font colours, wallpapers and add everything from the weather to live NBA game scores in a lock screen that's now completely tailored to your taste. You can also apply whole themes and create multiple lock screens... umm, we can't wait to let our creativity run wild on this.

Notifications will now also roll in through a compact bar at the bottom of the lock screen so they don't obscure the wallpaper you will no doubt spend forever perfecting, and you'll be able to hide them throughout the day to keep things neat and clear—that's a win for my OCD.

MacBooks are getting supercharged.

Brace yourself for a completely redesigned MacBook Air, powered by the almight M2 chip.

It's thinner, available in four colours, features better display and sound and boasts 18 hours of battery life.

Prices start at $1899 (*insert gritted teeth emoji*), but it sure does look fancy.

Buy Now, Apple Pay Later.

It was only a matter of time before Apple joined the 'Pay Later' trend.

With iOS 16, Apple Pay will get a few new privacy features and upgrades, including the option to break up your purchases into four interest-free payments over six weeks, just like Afterpay.

Oh yeah, so much. 

Face ID will now be required to open your Hidden and Recently Delete photo albums, photos will be easier than ever to share with the iCloud Shared Photo library, and Apple CarPlay has had a makeover so you'll be able to see your speed and control your car temperature in compatible vehicles. 

Plus, arguably our fave feature from iOS 15, Focus will also be better than ever and extend to your lock screen so you can remain undisturbed when you're supposed to be studying and Apple has officially said adios to the iPod Touch forever (and we've got the perfect article here if you need a hit of nostalgia to swallow that news).
