Apple Has Announced Their New VR Headset (And More!)

We’re getting major ‘Ready Player One’ vibes.

Apple have just held their annual Worldwide Developers Conference, and one of their biggest announcements was the reveal of the Apple Vision Pro – their new mixed reality VR/AR headset.

Among a host of other announcements, the Vision Pro is set to be the highlight of Apple’s new product range.

Apple’s been known for their “one more thing” announcement, and this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook left the VR headset till last.

Using the headset, users can use hand and finger gestures alongside eye movements and voice commands to experience entertainment in the third dimension.

With each lens holding 23 million pixels, Apple says it’ll be higher definition than a 4K TV in each eye.

Apple’s promotional video for the Vision Pro features browsing photos and videos, watching movies, gaming, completing work tasks, using FaceTime, and creating designs.

According to Apple, using the Vision Pro will allow you to enter a cinematic experience, wherever you are – including on planes.

Here’s the kicker tho – it’s gonna cost an arm and a leg.

Apple announced the Vision Pro will release in early 2024, retailing at $3,499 USD, or $5290 Australian.

The audience was none too happy about that announcement.

Despite the Vision Pro being the highlight of the day, it was just one of a few announcements made by the tech giant.

They also announced the release of the 15” MacBook Air, which is set to be their thinnest ever MacBook.

The device will also feature the brand-new M2 chip, which boasts a massive battery life and memory alongside a range of other features.

They also announced the release of iOS 17, which includes features like NameDrop, which allows iPhone users to easily share contact information.

Also included in iOS 17 is Standby mode, Contact Posters, Offline Maps and much more.

There’s also updates to iPad and Mac Operating systems as well as new Apple Watch features.
