Anti-Wrinkle Injections Are Trending on TikTok—Here’s What Young People Think

Opinions are divisive.
TikTok’s latest beauty trend isn’t as quirky as applying some nose blush, faking eyebags, or putting rice water in your hair.
Aussies as young as 18 are taking “yassification” to the next level by having actual needles enter their faces known as “anti-wrinkle injections”, aka Botox.
Patients believe the procedure is preventative and will help them avoid wrinkles in their natural resting face later in life. According to plastic surgeon Dr Naveen Somia, who spoke to ABC News, this is “anecdotal opinion”.
We wanted to get young people’s opinions on this, and the feedback was fairly divisive. Here’s what they had to say:

The ABC interviewed a young Aussie named Zac Foote, who reportedly paid $800 to reduce his crow’s feet, frown lines and forehead wrinkles. And he’s super stoked with the results, saying “it’s amazing, I am really happy with it”.
On the other hand, some TikTokers are sharing warnings against how Botox can change your face. This TikToker lost her dimples from the procedure.
There’s no doubt cosmetic procedures have grown in popularity and are losing their negative stigma as more and more people try it out, and prices drop.
Young people are right in the spotlight of influence. Is this all down to personal choice or, as one Instagram user suggested, are we in the midst of a “self-esteem pandemic”?
